Biography
Ledisi, an award-winning singer, songwriter, and producer, won her first Grammy in 2021 for "Best Traditional R&B Performance." She founded her own label and released the successful album The Wildcard. In 2020, she co-produced the PBS special Ledisi Sings Nina Simone and followed with Ledisi Live at The Troubadour in 2021. Her album Ledisi Sings Nina received a Grammy nomination and received excellent reviews.
With 14 Grammy nominations, including one for "Best New Artist," along with several Soul Train Music Awards and NAACP nominations, Ledisi has established herself as one of the leading singers of her generation. She has collaborated with artists such as Prince, Smokey Robinson, and Patti LaBelle and is also active in film and television, notably portraying Mahalia Jackson in the biopic Remember Me.
In addition to her music career, Ledisi is committed to the arts and advocates for the rights of creatives and young musicians. She serves as President of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Recording Academy and has published two books. As CEO of her label Listen Back Entertainment/BMG, she remains a driving force in the music industry.
