As an artist, Kidjo has gained worldwide respect for her distinctive voice, stage presence and ability to master different cultures and languages. She combines West African traditions with elements of R&B, funk and jazz, complemented by influences from Europe and Latin America.
In 2018, she released a rendition of the Talking Heads classic "Remain in Light", recorded by superstar producer Jeff Bhasker. Kidjo toured the world with this musical extravaganza, playing Carnegie Hall and the Bonnaroo Festival.
Her albums "DJIN DJIN", “EVE” and her orchestral album with the Orchestre Philharmonique Du Luxembourg won a Grammy.. In addition to music, she released a memoir in 2014.
Kidjo has performed with various international orchestras and collaborated with Philip Glass. She is also a UNICEF and OXFAM ambassador and is involved in education and charity work. In 2018, she sang "Blewu" under the Arc de Triomphe in front of 70 presidents to commemorate the centenary of the First World War, as a tribute to African soldiers.
